Margot Robbie is officially the highest paid actress in Hollywood thanks to the staggering salary she got for starring in Greta Gerwig's live action movie about Barbie.
The 32-year-old Australian actress will charge $12.5 million for the title role in the film by Oscar-nominated writer-director Greta Gerwig, which is based on the iconic Mattel doll of the same name, as reported by Variety.
These earnings for Robbie exceed the salary of 10 million dollars that she had received for her previous blockbuster, Birds of prey, in 2020.
Apparently Ryan Gosling, who co-stars as Ken in the film, has pocketed the same salary than his partner, and both share 16th place on Variety's new list of Hollywood's highest-paid actors.
The next actress to appear below Robbie is Millie Bobby Brown, who earned 10 million dollars for her leading role in 'Enola Holmes 2'.
Other high-earning actors who still rank above Robbie's impressive paycheck are big screen legends like Denzel Washington ('The Equalizer 3'), which is making $20 million, Leonardo DiCaprio ('Killers of the Flower Moon'), which has taken home a not inconsiderable 30 million dollars and Tom Cruise, who ranks as the highest paid actor with 100 million dollars for 'Top Gun: Maverick'.
Other women who are also on the list are Jamie Lee Curtis ('Halloween Ends'), with 3.5 million dollars, and Anya Taylor-Joy ('Furiosa'), who received $1.8 million.
In 'Barbie' the cast is completed by Ryan Gosling, 41, in the role of the "handsome loser" Ken , as well as Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, and Kate McKinnon.
According to Deadline, in the movie "Barbie gets kicked out of Barbieland because she's not perfect enough" and "goes on an adventure" to save Barbieland only to realize account of "that the key to happiness is to believe in oneself."
