British teenager Femi (Sam Adewunmi) lives with his white foster mother Mary (Denise Black) in the rural town of Lincolnshire. That is until his Nigerian birth mother, Yinka (Layo-Christina Akinlude), who he barely knows, uproots him and takes him with her to London. Faced with the chaos of acclimating to his mother's foreign customs and city life, the once-studious Femi begins to rebel against his mother's wishes and find his own identity.
